College students and recent graduates have the opportunity to volunteer on the Sitka Fine Arts Camp (the Historic Sheldon Jackson Campus) through our Historic Restoration program. Interns work as a team with a construction foreman, learning new skills and contributing to the future of a historic campus. Projects will take place all over campus. Examples of past projects include restoration work on Richard H. Allen Memorial Hall and restoring the facades of several of the historic buildings on the campus's main quad.
The internship is an unpaid volunteer program for the non-profit Sitka Fine Arts Camp. However, interns are provided with lodging in campus dormitories and meals in the campus Dining Hall during the internship. Four days per week, Monday through Thursday, interns work on the rehabilitation of campus structures. Evenings and three-day weekends are spent out on the local hiking trails, engaging in community events, and exploring Sitka, Alaska.
