Sitka Fine Arts Camp is a multidisciplinary arts camp dedicated to creating a community where students feel supported and encouraged to take risks to develop as artists and individuals. The camp focuses on exposing Alaskan youth from small communities who are traditionally underserved in arts education the opportunity to explore a wide range of mediums. ​

Sitka Fine Arts Camp: The Experience

This short film takes viewers inside the Sitka Fine Arts Camp as it follows five students who talk about their experiences with camp, from the classroom, to trips downtown, art shares, and final student performances. Although the five students have different backgrounds and interests, all agree that camp is a place where students feel comfortable going outside their comfort zones, while exploring new mediums and forms of creative expression.   ​

This transformative program focuses on observation of classes, participation in activities alongside students, and mentoring through seminars, which provide teachers with practical experience and new ideas on how to incorporate arts education into their teaching.
