MIDDLE SCHOOL & HIGH SCHOOL CAMP PACKING LIST

REQUIRED PACKING LIST: 
Plan on packing for the two week session. Access to laundry is limited. SFAC provides a mattress pad, bottom sheet, pillow & pillow case on each twin bed.
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleepwear 
  • Towel & washcloth
  • Soap, toothbrush, and personal toiletries
  • Water bottle
  • Alarm clock
  • Analog watch 
  • Clothing for variable weather conditions (hot, cold, rainy)- Sitka is a temperate rainforest with average summer temperatures ranging from low 40s to upper 60s
  • Warm jacket
  • Layers
  • Raingear 
  • Clothes that are appropriate for the active camp environment which includes art making and being outdoors
  • Enough underwear and socks for the full session
  • Clothes that are appropriate for the classes you are taking (see below) 
  • Gym shoes (required for rec activities in the Hames Center gym) 
  • Medication (if applicable) All medication must be brought to camp in its original pharmacy packaging and placed inside a zip-lock bag labeled with the student’s name, the medication name, dosage instructions, and the prescribing physician’s name and phone number

RECOMMENDED PACKING LIST:
  • Shower shoes
  • Waterproof shoes like rain boots
  • Sleep mask 
  • Shoes/clothes for hiking (ie hiking boots, sturdy athletic shoes)
  • Hat and gloves
  • Disposable camera
  • Books, decks of cards, board games, puzzles, friendship bracelet string, etc.
  • Letter writing materials, addressed envelopes & stamps

CLASS SPECIFIC PACKING LIST (Middle School Camp)
  • Instrumental Music Classes (Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Jazz Combos, Technique classes, Small Ensembles): 
    • Instrument(s) and extra reeds, oil, strings, rosin, and a metronome. 
    • Performance attire of black pants or skirt, long sleeve white shirt and black socks and shoes.
    • Trumpet and trombone players should bring straight and cup mutes.
    • Percussionists and drummers should bring a stick bag complete with the full set of sticks and drum set sticks.
    • If you play cello, tuba, or bass, please contact our office before May 1 to arrange instrument rental. Rentals are available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Acrobatics & Partnering: Clothes to move comfortably in.
  • Animation: USB flash drive with at least 16GB of free space.
  • Ballet: Ballet attire, soft ballet slippers
    • Those with experience en pointe should bring pointe shoes.
  • Body Conditioning: Clean gym shoes and clothes to move comfortably in.
  • Choir: Performance attire of black pants or skirt, long sleeve white shirt and black socks and shoes.
  • Digital Photography: A digital SLR camera with manual controls for aperture and shutter speed, batteries/or charger, memory cards, card reader or cord, and a USB flash drive with at least 16GB of memory.
    • If the student does not have access to a camera please contact the SFAC office by May 1 to be switched to another class.
  • Hip Hop Dance: Clean gym shoes and clothes to move comfortably in.
  • Live Event Production: Several sets of black clothes and black close-toed shoes.
  • Mask Theater: Clothes to move comfortably in.
  • Modern Dance: Black leotard & black leggings or black tank & black pants.
  • Piano: Wired headphones (not bluetooth).
  • Rock Band: Guitar & bass players should bring their instruments and a cable. Amps are provided. 
  • Shakespeare: Clothes to move comfortably in.
  • Slapstick Comedy: Slips, Trips & Falls: Clothes to move comfortably in.
  • Stage Combat: Clothes to move comfortably in.
  • Street Dance: Clean gym shoes and clothes to move comfortably in.
*If a class is not listed above, then there is nothing specific to pack, all materials will be provided at camp. 

CLASS SPECIFIC PACKING LIST (High School Camp)

    • Performance attire of black pants or skirt, long sleeve white shirt and black socks and shoes.

  • Mask Theater: Clothes to move comfortably in.

  • Noise: Music & Sound for Everyone: A USB flash drive with at least 16GB of free space and wired headphones (not bluetooth).
  • Piano: Wired headphones (not bluetooth).
  • Recording Session: A USB flash drive with at least 16GB of free space. Guitar & bass players should bring their instruments and a cable. Amps are provided.
  • Rock Band: Guitar & bass players should bring their instruments and a cable. Amps are provided.
  • Shakespeare: Clothes to move comfortably in.
  • Slapstick Comedy: Trips, Slips & Falls: Clothes to move comfortably in.
  • Street Dance: Clean gym shoes and clothes to move comfortably in.

PLEAVE LEAVE THESE ITEMS AT HOME: 
  • Cell phones, Apple watches, air pods, bluetooth headphones, wearable technology, laptops, netbooks, chromebooks, iPads, tablets, kindles, hand-held gaming devices, etc. Any connected electronic devices brought to camp will be collected on opening day and returned at the end of the session.
  • Expensive items that are easy to lose (ie sunglasses)
  • Roller blades, skateboards, rip sticks, bikes, scooters, etc.
  • Pocket or camping knives; any form of weapon
  • Battery operated toys, toys that resemble any type of weapon, walkie-talkies
  • Fireworks, sparklers, firecrackers, etc.
  • Energy drinks
  • Tea kettles, coffee pots, hot plates, curling irons, hair straighteners, etc. (The Fire Marshall prohibits the use of extension cords and electrical appliances in dorm rooms).
  • Any item that disrupts camp activities, creates a nuisance, or is considered potentially harmful to other individuals will be held until the end of camp.
