Drum Making Class taught by William Bolton


Location: Metlakatla Indian Community; Artist Village

Price: $285 (includes materials)

Date: October 7-11

Time: 6pm-9pm

Ages: 14 to adults


Create traditional drums from to start to finish. Hand craft drums out of elk hide and wooden hoops. In this class you will be able to complete a 15” drum, and finish it with a hand painted design on the front. All participants should bring scissors, pocket knife and a towel on the first day.


This program is a partnership between Shee Atiká, Sitka History Museum, The CIRI Foundation, Alaska State Council on the Arts and the Sitka Fine Arts Camp.
